Finally got my 120 rolls developed from my trip to Finally got my 120 rolls developed from my trip to Texas and this is a whole role from our side quest to @saltlickbbq ❤️❤️❤️ - we were staying in Austin at the time but this was worth the road trip.

It was a hot summer day and even hotter by the pit but I wasn’t going to waste the moment to watch these pit masters at work. I rarely love a whole roll but I seem to find something new in every shot.

It was dark for my old Rolleiflex 2.8e so I am amazed these all came out as good as they did. Using a roll that was never meant for the limits of the camera but trusting my light meter and best judgment to grab the shots you see here. All while staying out of the way of this busy bbq joint.

Just love these. @ranch_dude

If you are not familiar with what we are looking at, this is a true wood fired bbq pit in the hill country outside of Austin Texas. Where thousands of pounds of meat are cooked weekly. It is a pretty large complex with a space for live music, dining and more.

I am always fascinated with how we feed the masses in traditional and modern ways and this way is ancient. “Barbacoa” is a saying from my own Taíno ancestors so it is especially important to me to document the ways food is cooked and smoked in different cultures.

Beauty in the imperfections. I don’t have a dark Beauty in the imperfections.

I don’t have a dark room so have not developed these myself and haven’t picked up the rolls yet to see which film I used here. Not sure if this is from an “art” film I picked up to try, from old film I popped in to use up, or from the Rolleiflex breaking.

I hope it is not my Rolleiflex but even so, the results are almost antique with abstract circles and light leaks.

Scenes from Victoria and Vancouver.

When I was a cute craftie (Craft Services) on the set of Malevolent with @officiallou_diamondphillips - oh the early 2000s were fun times 😂❤️ I was all of 20 years old and the guys on set loved to mess with me.

A part time craftie and a part time barista in Venice Beach, just hoping I could work my way up into the art department, camera and who knows what else.

I remember taking this shot but thought it was on an old plastic disposable long gone. Here we are.
While I impatiently wait for more rolls to develop While I impatiently wait for more rolls to develop and scan, here are some medium format snaps from the Japanese Garden in Portland. I swear there were other people there. But I waited for just the right moments in between the crowds.

This was on Fathers Day a few years back. It was so busy there, and as I carried around my #rolleiflex I felt a bit of peace and sentiment for my own stepdad who gave me his camera when I was just 13.

What I love about 120 film is the need to be greedy with it. With just 12 shots, you really force yourself to be picky about your subjects. I don’t always succeed at this but it is a nice lesson in patience. Being in a busy place also had me pausing for the perfect moments. Spending several minutes at a time in one spot helped me see potential where I may have overlooked.
