MEET ME

I do what I do.

My work is minimally staged, subtly organized. It is life as we see it day-to-day.

Handsome lil grandbaby. I have given up shooting Handsome lil grandbaby.

I have given up shooting portraits for money but can’t help capturing some candids in my suburban life. Sometimes ordinary life is where the magic happens.
I can’t help it if I keep coming back to this subj I can’t help it if I keep coming back to this subject but I just got 2 of five rolls of 120 film from my time in New Orleans and this is just a taste of it. These Black Masking Indians are glorious and pretty. I see every stitch, feather, bead, history and minute it took to get to these moments and it humbles me.

Pretty Mardi Gras Indians (Black Masking Indians) Pretty Mardi Gras Indians (Black Masking Indians) in New Orleans for #supersunday - just some of my favorite digital shots but hoping my film shots came out too ❤️ the detail and the time it takes to complete these suits is mind boggling and worthy of praise.
#supersunday in New Orleans is not to be missed. W #supersunday in New Orleans is not to be missed. What a thrill and a pleasure to see this cultural heritage in action. I shot several rolls and digital - so looking forward to sharing it all. For now - here is a smile from my iPhone.
We wandered the French Quarter like genuine touris We wandered the French Quarter like genuine tourists yesterday, stopping to tip the buskers and the many bartenders along the way. I grew up in the center of amusement parks so these streets gave off a nagging familiarity with a darker edge. Folks walked by in bright, matching button ups and the more gullible types were easy to spot and lure into conversations and shops that no doubt led to cash exchanging hands.

We skimmed through countless art galleries overflowing with New Orleans scenes and emptiness, nothing moved me until I peeked through a doorway at an embroidered dress and larger than life female subjects in these beautiful details and threads. These are pieces by Chris Lee Roberts-Antieau @antieaugallery

Just look at this incredible fabric art, some taking over 300 hours to complete. Lately I’ve been intensely focused on female artists and my own artistic journey as a woman of a certain age. It’s like being seen in their work and melodies. The detail pulled me in so quickly I was mesmerized. So much so, I purchased a small piece (the only one I could afford) but felt I just had to - Devil in a Blue Dress is coming home with me 💙
